Where is The Langham Chicago Located?

This hotel is located in the heart of Chicago, right next to the Chicago River. The hotel occupies the lower 13 floors of the former IBM Building (now AMA Plaza), and is shared with the American Medical Association (AMA) in Chicago.

Langham Hotel Chicago Reviews: Why We Chose This Architectural Gem

We were looking for a stay that highlights the architectural beauty of the city, and that’s how we discovered The Langham. The building has been a Chicago landmark since 2008 because it was designed by my favorite architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Currently, it is the only hotel inside a building designed by Mies!

The property is famous not just for its incredible architecture, but also for being featured in the Dark Knight movie. Beyond the beautiful design, we always love finding places that feel incredibly special and welcoming, and this hotel clearly delivers on that experience since it received its two Michelin Keys in 2024.

Welcoming Personalization & Vibe

Like many other Langham Hotel Chicago reviews mention, there is an incredible level of personalized attention for guests. When we arrived at the drop-off area and walked inside to the second-floor lobby for check-in, the greeters welcomed us by our names. They even bring your luggage straight to our room, which is such a thoughtful detail so you never have to worry about carrying your bags.

The check-in counter features a stunning glass pendant with a mix of earth colors, setting an elegant tone for the welcoming area. Walking to our room, we noticed the corridor is just as elegant, featuring beautiful wood details on the walls and doors.

Our Stay: The Deluxe Room

We stayed in the Deluxe Room, which gave us a view of the nearby skyscrapers and had a very cozy vibe. The room feels modern and spacious, complete with high ceilings and beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. At the entrance of the room, there is a conveniently labeled switch to control all the room lighting, with an additional master switch right next to the bed.

The room features a work table with a lamp and outlets, plus several drawers. There is plenty of lighting, but it is beautifully controlled to make the illumination very pleasant and soft. The lights are smartly divided by section: room, vanity, bedroom, and even a nightlight mode.

The bedroom itself is soft and comfortable, featuring a small coffee table with two chairs. There is also a dedicated vanity for getting ready right next to a closet with ample storage areas.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is super spacious. It features a large vanity with double sinks, plus a bathtub and a shower that share the same shower door. The toilet is in its own stall area with a separate door, away from the sink and shower. This is super convenient because two people can use the bathroom individually without worrying about privacy.

The shower has both a hose and a rain showerhead. Right next to it is the bathtub, which features a glass wall at the end so you can look out into the bedroom. However, for privacy, there is a button next to the shower that instantly changes the clear glass to a frosted glass.

Does The Langham Have a Turndown Service?

Yes, there is a complimentary nightly turndown service. During our visit, we came back to our room to find slow music playing, dim lighting (the room’s nightlight mode), and water bottles placed on our bedside tables. Our bathrobes were perfectly hung in the bathroom, and our slippers were placed right next to the bed. It was such a special, detailed touch that we couldn’t wait to get back to our room every evening.

We ordered room service, and we were thrilled to find great plant-based options on the room service menu. My husband ordered a marinated penne pasta, and I had a delicious quinoa salad. Check the room service menu here.
