In this post, I’ll walk you through what it’s like to spend three hours in the Thermal Suite, the circuit I usually follow, and a few tips I’ve learned along the way.

If it’s your first time sailing, you might also want to read my post Virgin Voyages Tips You Wish You Knew Before Boarding, which covers everything I wish I’d known before my first cruise.

My goal isn’t to convince you to book, but to give you an honest look at the experience so you can decide if it’s something you’d enjoy on your own Virgin Voyages adventure.

Virgin Voyages Thermal Suite Spa Review

I’ve sailed with Virgin Voyages five times, and on four of those trips, I visited the Thermal Suites in the Redemption Spa. Each visit has been a highlight due to the calm and relaxing atmosphere.

The first time, I went by myself and enjoyed it so much that I encouraged my husband to join me. Ever since then, we have always gone together.

He loves it because the spa has a completely different energy compared to the lively pool scene on Deck 16. The spa even has an indoor pool that feels peaceful and quiet, and is totally worth it.

For me, these 3 hours are perfect, not only for relaxing, but also for the detox benefits. Sweating in the sauna and moving through the circuit helps eliminate toxins from the body, leaving me refreshed every time.

My Go-To Spa Circuit

There’s no set order for enjoying the spa rooms, but here’s how I usually go through them:

1. Dry Sauna

  • Drink plenty of water before you enter the dry sauna.
  • Rinse off with the shower outside the dry sauna before stepping in.
  • You can adjust the heat by pouring water over the stone basket inside.
  • Flip the sand timer on the left wall to keep track of your time.
  • If you’re new, I recommend starting with 5–10 minutes.

2. Cold Plunge

3. Steam Room

  • The steam room is where everything feels warm and misty.
  • The heat helps open your pores, and it’s good for blood circulation.
  • I’ve found that spending a few minutes here helps the body relax fully before moving to the next part of the circuit.
  • A quick rinse afterward is perfect because it washes away the sweat.

4. Salt Room

  • It’s good for sinuses and skin conditions.
  • I’ve found it’s best to use the steam room first and then the salt room because your body seems to absorb the benefits better that way.
  • After the salt room, drink water to rehydrate.

5. Mud Room

  • You’ll be given a small cup of mud to apply to your skin, which helps to exfoliate the skin.
  • Before leaving, rinse off at the hose inside the room to remove the mud.

6. Pool, Jacuzzi & Marble Beds

  • After completing the circuit (I usually repeat it more than once). Then I relax in the indoor pool in the center of the spa.
  • There’s also a small jacuzzi to enjoy and marble beds, which are heated.
