What is a good blogging topic for a blog post?

The best blog topic is the one that engages with your audience from beginning to end. The only way you can get this result is by considering your audience when you write your blog. I may sound like a broken record, but your audience visits your blog because they are looking for an answer to solve an issue.

You need to ensure that your blog offers useful content and the solution your visitors are looking for. Keeping that in mind, let’s get into these tips so you can find the top topics for your blog.

Market research for discovering perfect topics for a blog

The first one is an important phase; I see oversight very often by beginner bloggers. I’m talking about the market research process.

Why market research is important? This process will allow you to know what type of content you should provide to your audience.  Also, to identify the person that you want to be visiting your blog and consuming your content. With the market research phase, you will discover a targeted persona that you must think about every time you create content.

I don’t do market research every time I develop a blog post because that is time-consuming. However, every other month, I take my time to perform market research because I want to know how much the interest of my target audience has changed.

If you haven’t started a blog website in my course, how to start your own blog. I teach step-by-step how to perform market research. The results of the market research phase gear you to understand your audience and come up with excellent ideas to write a blog about.

Understanding Your Niche

Another important aspect that you need to consider when finding the best topics to develop content on your blog is the niche. You may want to start writing about several niches. However, you need to stop doing so because it’s better to write about one or two niches based on your experience. Rather than having several blog posts on your website on different topics without sharing strong expertise in the niche. Also, refrain from covering all bases in one blog post.

You can streamline your posts and use your ideas in separate blog posts.

Let’s say you are a traveler blogger and want to share your experience visiting a certain city. You can break it down into different posts for example you can create a blog about your experience trying food in the best restaurants in that city. Then another blog to cover your experience searching and staying in cheaper hotels. Then, a third blog to talk about different free cultural activities available in that city. You can do a series of blog posts and connect them with internal links.

Using keywords to find the right topics for a blog

I am not going to talk about finding the perfect keyword because that is a huge topic that I need to cover in a separate blog. But you can also find topic ideas using keywords. I typically use Ads.google.com or Ubersuggest.com to get keyword ideas. Then, you can use the different keyword suggestions to develop content around that keyword.

Another way that you can find potential topics for blog writing is by analyzing competitors in your niche. You can check your competitor’s well-performed keywords and create improved content around it. You can find these keywords by using Ads.google.com and typing your competitor’s website in the Keyword Planner tool.

Now, don’t get me wrong here, I’m not encouraging you to copy your competitor’s content because that can get you into copyright issues. Don’t duplicate the information, what you need to do is bring the topic from another perspective based on your own experience. If you do it correctly, you can get a positive increase in traffic in your blog because your competitors already completed the market research process for you.

Social platform to find juicy topics for blog

There are so many social platforms available that you can use to your advantage to get top topics for writing your blogs. One platform that I use very often is Reddit. Go to Reddit and write in the search bar your niche, and you will get a list of trending questions.

Also, you can join groups in Reddit related to your niche to track daily questions that you can use to come up with ideas for your content.

A second platform that I use is Quora to get insights into good topics for blogs. You can create a free account using your website. Very similar to Reddit, write in the search bar your niche or target audience, and you will get a list of trending inquiries you can use to write your blog.

Engage with the Audience

Do you have an established audience or email subscribers? If you do, you can use this to find the best topics for blogging. One way that I do it is by gathering feedback through polls and surveys through my email marketing. Then, I generate content ideas using my audience’s interests and needs.

A question from one subscriber may be the same question many other readers have.

However, if you don’t have email subscribers yet, you can use forms on your website to get feedback from your audience that can help you get ideas.

Generating content ideas

When you are generating content ideas you need to have in mind what impact you want to have on your audience. Do you want to entertain them or do you want to educate them?

Don’t write to write something, take your time finding a topic. The key to good topics for a blog is the quality and value of the content you share. Always focus on providing content that will help your audience and share genuine experiences.

There is no right or wrong, consistently test different strategies to find your best ideas for a blog. Take the necessary steps to streamline their niche and prioritize audience needs. Lastly, use your blog structure to get maximum engagement with your audience.
