Woodlark Hotel Review: Boutique Hotel In Portland Oregon
When visiting Portland, you need a stay that is impeccably clean, perfectly located, and that actually lives up to its “upscale” title. Most travelers settle for a stylish spot, only to realize too late that the location is inconvenient or the cleanliness isn’t meeting their expectations.

During my visit in August, I needed a central hub that was spotless and convenient enough to explore the city on foot. While there is another Michelin-key option in the city, I chose the Woodlark specifically for its central location.
This Woodlark Hotel review will show you why this centric, Michelin-key property is the perfect fit for anyone seeking the best boutique hotel in Portland Oregon.
Why Choose the Woodlark Hotel Portland?
Our decision to stay here was primarily driven by the fact that we prioritize staying in upscale properties whenever we travel to ensure a high-end experience.

While there is another Michelin-key option in the city, we chose the Woodlark specifically because of its central location. We wanted to be in the heart of everything, and this boutique hotel put us exactly where we needed to be.
Note: If you also look to explore upscale experiences everywhere you travel, you might be interested in my other Michelin Key stays at the Hotel Greystone in Miami and Seventy Hotel in Barcelona.
Where Is Woodlark Hotel Located?
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of Powell’s Books. The area feels incredibly safe and walkable, with many restaurants and cafés nearby.
Does Woodlark Hotel Offer A Shuttle?
No, Woodlark Hotel does not offer a shuttle to/from the airport. The hotel is located 13 miles from the airport. To get there, you can:
- Rideshare: Take an Uber or Lyft (what we did).
- Public Transit: Take the MAX Red Line train. The station is just one block from the hotel. Check the Portland train website for fares and trip details.

Does the Woodlark Hotel Have Parking?
The Woodlark hotel has valet parking, but it is pricey at $60 daily, and is only available from 6 am to 12 am. I recommend skipping the car rental, as I explained in my one-day in Portland itinerary post.

What are the Room Options?
The Woodlark Hotel offers several room layouts. You can check the specific details for each layout and book your stay here:
- Double Bedroom: Two queen beds or two double beds.
- King Bedroom: A plush king bed.
- Superior King Bedroom: (Our choice) King bed with city views.
- Deluxe King Bedroom: King bed and city views with a more spacious layout.
- Deluxe Corner Bedroom: Similar to the Deluxe King but with a corner view.
- Studio Suite Bunk: King bed and custom twin bunk beds.
- Loft Suite: A two-story room with a spiral staircase and a separate sitting area.
- Studio Suite: King bed and a seating area.
- Woodlark Suite: One-bedroom suite with a corner view.
What to Expect: My Experience
I spent my stay in room 512, which is a Superior King. If you are looking for a boutique hotel in Portland, Oregon, that prioritizes comfort, this room is a strong contender.
The Room

Superior King Room
- The Bed: The bed was so comfortable that it felt like sleeping on clouds. I had some of the best sleep I have had in a long time.
- Atmosphere: The room features high ceilings and a large window with a city view, which helps give the feeling of a bigger space.
- The Layout: There is no desk or chair in the room. I was planning to write my blog post, so I headed to the lobby area instead, where they have plenty of furniture.
- Storage: The closet is an open-concept style. While it was not huge, it did not feel overwhelming because we only stayed a couple of days.
- Amenities: There was no microwave or coffee maker in the room. However, this was not an issue for us since we were within walking distance of vegan-friendly spots like the plant-based breakfast we had at The Daily Feast.
The Bathroom

Superior King Bathroom
- Cleanliness and Style: The bathroom was very clean and decorated with beautiful gold fixtures and minimalist tiles that give it an upscale vibe.
- The Shower: The shower is very spacious and features indirect illumination coming from the ceiling, which creates a welcoming and calming environment.
- Toiletries: The soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided have an expensive scent that we really enjoyed.
Things To Do In The Woodlark Hotel?

- Roseline Coffee: Located in the lobby, this is a great spot to work. The coffee was so good we bought a bag to take home.

Abigail Hall
- Abigail Hall: This is a hidden cocktail bar with a very local vibe. The lighting is very dim, and it feels like stepping into a classic living room with sofas, tables, and a coffee table. There is a beautiful fireplace with a green brick wall. Most people there felt like “Portlanders” with a relaxed and friendly vibe. We tried some cocktails, my favorite was the grapefruit gimlet from the happy hour menu. I will be writing a separate post about this bar and other bars in Portland soon.

Bullard Tavern
- Bullard Tavern: The hotel restaurant was busy, but we chose to visit vegan restaurants on our must-try list instead.
Service And Guest Experience
The service at the Woodlark made us feel like important guests from the moment we arrived. There are respectful doormen at the front entrance who open the door for you, which is a minor detail that really makes this stay stand out among luxury hotels in downtown Portland.

The lobby area itself is impressive and beautifully decorated, and since my room did not have a desk, I spent quite a bit of time here working on my blog and enjoying the environment.

Enjoying a complimentary Martini
One thoughtful detail we loved was the large gallon glass of water kept in the lobby. It was very convenient because we did not have to buy bottled water at all during our stay.

Other highlights of the guest experience included:
- Complimentary Drinks: Every day after 4 pm, the staff provides two complimentary martinis at the front desk. You can choose from a dry martini, a fruit-flavored martini, or a fruit-flavored mocktail.
- Luggage Storage: Since we had a late flight on our checkout date, the hotel stored our luggage in a secure area so we could enjoy our final hours in the city without any heavy bags.
- Valet Parking: If you choose to bring a car, the hotel offers valet parking for $60 per day. It is available from 6 am to 12 am, though I still recommend walking and using rideshares, given how central the location is.
Would I stay In This boutique Hotel In Portland, Oregon Again?
I definitely would. The biggest winners for me were the cleanliness and the location. Knowing the hotel is well-maintained and within walking distance of everything made our short trip very easy and stress-free.
If you are planning your own visit, I recommend checking the Woodlark Hotel availability and current rates here. Since they offer nine different room layouts, it is a good idea to book early to ensure you get the specific city view or suite style that fits your trip.
